Wild Edibles
This post is long overdue but I’ve finally gotten around to updating my blog! Forgive me I have been busy. If you’re not interested on hearing about my life, just skip to where I talk about food.
Anyway I was locked up in school for a long time and whenever I had free time all I would do is eat and hibernate. I’ve also been spending quality time with Mia (my new folding bike). I love her dearly and the other day I biked 40+ miles with her. I also fell off my bike somehow and was on the floor for a good minute partly because I was in pain and partly because I was embarrassed. So now I am a cripple.

I passed by Wild Edibles a couple of times and always wanted to eat at this place. I never really got a chance to until recently when I found myself in this tiny seafood market and restaurant. If you couldn’t tell it was also a seafood market by the fish in display, then the smell was a dead giveaway. Don’t worry, it’s bearable. The place really is small with not that many tables. Like they have to pull the table out every time just so someone can get through to sit by the wall. Still the experience was enjoyable and I would definitely come back!

Different small infos and blurbs on different things written on the placemat

Happy Hour Oysters!! Happy Hour is from 12-6

$1 Oh Come All Ye Broke~

New England Clam Chowder- It was good but the soup wasn’t as thick as I was expecting. I like my clam chowder very very thick and creamy but still it tasted great! Plus it was HUGE!

Every bite was filled with bacon and manila clams

Grilled Tuna Steak Club with Old Bay Fries- Again it was huge. The burger was solid. It was just one of those really good seafood burgers. Good but not really life changing for me. The fries on the other hand were nice and crispy but so salty!

Dough
Doughnuts are one of my favorite foods. I eat it at all the time, but lately I’ve been trying to control my doughnut cravings that come almost every hour of the day. But en route to the Brooklyn Flea, I couldn’t help but stop by at DOUGH!!
The doughnuts here are all yeast doughnuts (somewhat like Krispy Kreme but 985729x better) and are topped with a variety of interesting glazes. If the Doughnut Plant goes home with the Best Cake Doughnut award then Dough wins the category for the Best Yeast Doughnuts.
Marshmallow- Even their marshmallows are so good and I don’t even like marshmallows! So fluffy!!

Dulce de Leche with Almonds-mmm so sweet, so messy, so soft, so warm, so almondy..

Passion Fruit with Cocoa Nibs- such a sweet and tangy glaze

Japanese Designer Yohji Yamamato to Direct Feature Film
During a roundtable discussion with French director Christophe Honoré at the Hyères International Festival of Fashion and Photography, Japanese fashion designer Yohji Yamamoto announced he is working on his first feature film. Besides his own designs, Yamamoto has developed a following from his Y-3 collaboration with adidas.
Taking a role as director, he purportedly has someone working on a script, and is expected to wrap the film in two years’ time. Although his clothing has been featured in films by directors like Takeshi Kitano and Wim Wenders, the designer has expressed his dislike for creating clothes for films, respecting the craft of costume designers.
Yamamoto is hardly the first fashion designer to step into the director’s chair, Tom Ford caused a stir when he was at the helm of the critically-acclaimed (and decidedly well-dressed) film ‘A Single Man’.
I cannot wait for this! I really am so glad Yohji will be working with Christophe Honoré in this film. Christophe Honoré is one of my favorite directors/writers as he created some of my most loved films like 17 fois Cécile Cassard, Les Chansons d’amour, and Dans Paris. I’m sure Yohji Yamamoto will receive much success with his film as Tom Ford did with A Single Man (which was another brilliant film by a brilliant designer). -
Les Amours Imaginaires (Hearbeats)
One of my favorite films, directed by Xavier Dolan. I can’t really say much about it but it’s really a charming film. I can’t praise it enough. I really do love Dolan and judging from his other films I think he is a promising young filmmaker. I’m looking forward to his upcoming film Laurence Anyways.

Astro Girl

People used to call me Astro Girl because I used to wear this jacket once in a while. I found it last night in the back of my closet so I wore it today with my favorite hairstyle.

La Lanterna di Vittorio
When you’re in the Village and not sure where to go, check out La Lanterna. The garden in the back is quite romantic and lovely. Plus during a rainy or windy day you won’t be shivering in the cold because the garden is enclosed by a glass ceiling.
If I had a significant other, I would definitely take him here to enjoy the whole comfy candlelit dinner type of thing. For now, I’ll just take my girlfriends for lunch. Food was also pretty impressive but I was more into the lanterns than anything else.
Also in the winter you can get all cozy by the fireplace downstairs.

Let the Hunger Games begin… (corny I know)

pretty lanterns

pretty candle

Pizza prosciutto arrostito- tomato sauce, mozzarella, prosciutto, basil, extra virgin olive oil
Pretty darn good pizza, I must say.

Lasagna al pesto
TO DIE FOR. Light and just the way I like it.

The only thing that bothered me was that I sat right by the fountain and I kept on getting squirted with water.

P.S. Check out the live band downstairs
